Dr. says Ben could be 6'2''

Ben had his 9 month check up today. This appointment went SO much better than his 6 month check up where he screamed about 90% of the visit. He didn't cry at all this time. He also didn't have to get any shots, just a pin prick to check for lead (which he had good results on). Ben weighed 19 lbs 4 oz and was 30.5 inches long. That puts him in the 97% for height and the 50% for weight. Phil and I laughed to ourselves when the Dr. said that Ben is headed on track to be 6'2''. Phil says that 6'2'' is a good start. So Ben had a clean bill of health from the Dr. The Dr. said that it looks like Ben is going to give us a run for our money with how busy he is. I would agree to that. Life has certainly changed for me now that he is a mover. Of course I wouldn't have it any other way!!

First carousel ride!

We had a cool, but nice weekend. Phil's work had an employee appreciation party at the Milwaukee county zoo on Saturday. It was from 6-10 pm so we had the entire zoo to ourselves. They had food stations set up throughout the zoo, along with face painting, and crafts. You could also ride the train, sky glider, and carousel! As you can see we chose to ride the carousel. I didn't quite know what he would think about it, but he seemed to like it. When I put him on the giraffe he was babbling away, but once the ride got going he quieted right down. I was just hoping he wasn't going to get sick, because I know that I was feeling dizzy. Ben lasted until about 9:00, which was much better than Phil and I had thought he would last especially because he didn't take an afternoon nap. But despite that and the yucky, rainy weather, we had a great time. I hope they have the party there again next year.

Mirror, Mirror....

This video is from July, but I just had to share it! Ever since Ben was a little baby, he has enjoyed looking at himself in the mirror. In fact, if he was crying and you took him into the bathroom and let him look at himself in the mirror he would stop. On this day, Phil and Ben were in the bedroom, when Phil yelled at me to come in and watch him "going berserk" with the mirror. So I rushed in with the camera and of course, he saw me and got distracted. So this is the tail end of his episode. I wonder when he is going to figure out that that handsome little guy in the mirror is his reflection and not a friend?

"I'm Mobile!"

A few weeks ago at church, Ben and I were in the nursery because he was fussy. In there, they had one of those toys that kids push and walk behind. Ben absolutely loved it! Afterward we went to Walmart to buy him one. The only one we found was for $39.00. I couldn't justify spending that much when I could get one at a garage sale for next to nothing. However, later that day, Phil couldn't resist! He snuck away and found one at Kmart for much cheaper. That same day he put it together and Ben pushed it everywhere. I tried telling Phil that this is a good example of why we need to get a house, so Ben has more room to play. Phil quickly suggested that Ben could have plenty of room to walk in the halls outside our apartment (which was a great idea, but not exactly what I was hoping for :) ) So now our little guy is pushing that thing around and loving it! We really like how it has been tiring him out and he has been sleeping through the night.

Hi! I'm new here!

After much prodding from my good friend Keri Davis, I figured I would finally enter the world of blogging! So we will see how often I actually update this thing. She updates hers once a week, I only hope I can be that persistent. One of the reasons I wanted to do this was so that I could show video of our little guy, so hopefully I can get that figured out. I am not too technologically advanced, I just found out a few weeks ago about the "reply to all" button on email. However, I also didn't realize you have to click on "send" as well.

So let me take a few practice runs with this thing and lets see what we end up with!
