Ben's very first haircut!

Yes! Getting your haircut does hurt!

Friends and Family

Since our last post we have been spending some good quality time with friends and family! February started out with a trip to Beaumont, Texas for Ben and I. My best friend Keri, Jay, and Emma live there. Keri and Jay are expecting their second baby! The crummy part is that Keri has very bad morning sickness. Jay had a business trip to D.C. scheduled and secretly called me to see if Ben and I could come down and take care of Keri and Emma. So that next week we were on our way. We got to surprise Keri which was the best part! Ben and Emma got along great (with a few reminders for the both of them to share their toys!) It rained 2 days but the other days were very nice and we got to go outside. After trying to corral two little ones outside, I decided when Phil and I get a house we need to have a fenced in backyard! As luck would have it Jay's business trip was canceled due to all the snow in D.C. But it was still great to spend time with the Davis family and our time together went by very fast!

Just last weekend we had Grandma Arnold come for a visit. She came on Friday afternoon and left on Tuesday afternoon. We had such a nice time together! We went mall walking everyday and cooked lots of good food. However we didn't get to make it to the casino for a game of Bingo. It was especially nice having her here with me with Phil doing a lot of studying, he has another exam coming up in May. Once again the time went by way too fast!

Ben has been becoming an independent young man! He likes to feed himself with a spoon and eat things off of a fork. I usually stab the food with a fork and let him put it in his mouth. While he is dipping his spoon in the food I get some in his mouth with my spoon. He has been doing a lot of babbling and some talking too. He can also point to his nose, eyes, ears, belly, and fingers! He also got his haircut for the first time. As you can see from the pictures he did not enjoy any of it! Even with me holding him he screamed and cried the entire time! Luckily the hairstylist was fast and did a great job. He looks like a big boy with his haircut now. It really seems to Phil and I like he has grown and developed a lot these past two weeks. It is amazing how that happens. We have been enjoying watching him grow, even though he has his moments. When Ben stands on our chair I tell him to sit on his bottom, but he looks at me and keeps standing. I usually have to go over there and physically remove him from the chair. I was mentioning this to Phil and he said, "That's what kids do." It was then that I realized that this is not a stage, but rather will be life as we know it from now until who knows when! Guess I better get used to it and start praying for patience.
