Quite a lot has been happening since my last blog. The first thing is that I became a Godmother for the fourth time! My good friend Kari Molnau had her second child on October 15th. William Joseph Molnau made his big appearance on that day! They are both doing very well. In fact today, not even 2 weeks after giving birth, Kari and I went on a 2.5 mile walk. She looks so good you never would have guessed she recently had a baby! It is so great to hold Will and hear all of his little baby sounds!
Ben and I flew to Michigan to visit our family over the past weekend. Phil had to stay home to study, so we missed him. (By the way, Phil's exam is on Monday, so if everyone could say a little prayer that would be great!) We had a great time visiting everyone. It went by way too fast. That plane trip was Ben's fourth time on a plane! The first time was to Houston to visit our good friends Jay, Keri, and Emma Davis. Than we went on two trips to Michigan and one to St. Louis. Now that Ben is mobile, the short 32 minute flight to MI is about as long as I want to go! We also found out today that the York side of the family will be welcoming another grandson! Phil's brother and wife are expecting their second child, another little boy! Wyatt will be a great big brother. He did an awesome job at sharing his toys with Ben, hugging him, and wanting him to sit on his lap when we visited on Friday.
This weekend we are planning on going to trick or treat at the Milwaukee County Zoo. Ben is going to be a pumpkin. Hopefully the weather will stay nice for us.

In this video we are trying to get Ben to say a new word he learned, "spoon." It is not until the end of the video that he actually says it. It sounds like "ooooonnn." I was pretty proud of him that he could say it and relate it to the actual spoon. But this evening he was playing with a hanger and calling it a spoon too, so we have a little work to do yet!

Part-time walker
The last two weekends Phil and I really haven't done too much. Phil has been studying a lot, so that leaves Ben and I to choose what to do. Two weekends ago I had 2 friends over. We cooked dinner, roasted pumpkin seeds, and made caramel apples. We were going to watch a scary movie too, but it got late (9:00, pretty pathetic, huh?) This past weekend Ben and I went to the park and shopping, that was about it.
Although not much has been going on with Phil and I, Ben has been extremely busy. He is now our "part-time walker." He really took off this weekend. It started a few weeks ago with him taking a few steps on his own between our furniture. Then I could coax him to take a few steps to me. Now he can walk on his own! The other day I was in the dining room and looked down to see Ben walking away from one of his toys. He still crawls and mostly cruises still to get around, but his walking is really taking off.
I have also been trying to teach him some words. He can say "mama", "dada", and "more." I have been really working on getting him to say "more" when he wants more food instead of screaming. It is starting to work. He will also go find his basketball when Phil asks him to find it (he is no longer scared of it) and he will find his stuffed sheep "Baa" when I ask him to. It is funny how the smallest things like these are mile stones for parents to see their kids doing. When I was getting him out of his car seat the other day I just couldn't get over how he no longer looks like a little baby, but like a toddler! Soon I will be planning a first birthday, I can hardly believe it!
Another bit of exciting news is that we have an ending date for Ben's helmet. We had an appointment last week. The orthotist is very happy with his improvement and said that it was up to me as to when I wanted him to be done. He took some measurements of the inside of the helmet and said Ben still has room to grow. He also thinks Ben's head will still grow some more, since it has grown so much over the past 3 months. In order for the helmet to work the head has to grow. With all that information we decided to go one more month. The head doesn't grow as fast after the baby reaches one year. So Ben's grand unveiling of his newly shapened head will be November 4th! We are very excited! Although, wearing the helmet has come in very handy with him learning to walk.
That is all for now, off to fold some clothes! You know what they say, "A woman's work is never done!"
